Loren Stagner
Loren Stagner was appointed to the Bastrop County ESD Board in January 2025 to a two-year term. Loren began his career in EMS in 1988. Throughout his EMS career he has served in multiple roles from healthcare practitioner to operations director, providing leadership to field personnel and operations development. He was part of Allen Johnson’s team in 1998 re-establishing Montgomery County Hospital District EMS in transition from a private provider. Loren has worked with Montgomery County Hospital District EMS, Huntsville Walker County EMS, ending his career in EMS at Marble Falls Area EMS, where in 2006 MFAEMS was honored as the recipient of the “EMS Provider of the Year” award by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Loren currently works in the oil & gas industry in a safety leadership position helping worksites identify and learn from the past and develop safer and efficient operations. He has also worked in international roles creating multi-cultural teams.
Loren served 3 terms as city council member for the city of Lovelady, Texas and served as the city representative on the Deep East Texas Council of Governments. He has also served on multiple steering committees assisting cities and school districts navigating the need to issue bonds. He served as the Burnet County representative and officer on the Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council.
Understanding pre-hospital healthcare is sometimes citizens first access to healthcare, Loren believes a quality system needs to be in place to meet the community needs. He also believes this can be done in a systematic approach to make sure it is done right the first time, leveraging current knowledge in the county while being good stewards of taxpayer dollars.
Loren has a bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety and is a member of the National Society of Leadership. Loren and his wife Lauren reside in Smithville.
